Ninth Day of Awesome Featuring

We want all the babies and children to grow up in a world with as much health, wealth, and happiness as possible. The way the world is heading at the moment, the experts are saying that our wishes for our children may not be possible. So if you are not already an environmentalist, then jump on the bandwagon and take a ride. It will only benefit every person on the planet!

In Sprout Right, registered nutrition consultant Lianne Phillipson-Webb clearly explains simple nutritional steps to influence the health of your baby from conception to birth, what a breastfeeding mom should be eating to fortify nature’s perfect food, what to look for in a formula, and everything you need to know about starting your baby on solids with ease and confidence.

Phillipson-Webb also explains how the Sprout Right approach allows baby’s digestive system to mature, hopefully lessening the potential for allergies and reactions, and then progress to family food in the toddler years. Packed with essential nutritional information, the book includes:

I used to make some for my daughter – mostly easy things like banana, apples and avocado

  2. Natalia says:

My little boy is only 5 months therefore he is exclusively breastfed and his favorite meal is boob juice 🙂

As my little one will be introduced to solids in January winning this prize would be perfect timing and appropriate.

  3. Eva Heilbraum says:

I always make my baby food so far very simple stuff, like sweet potato, peas, carrots but the winning is apple he loves his apple!!!!

  4. Julia W says:

I have tried simple purées of yam, butternut squash, kale, and broccoli. So far she liked most of them. Will keep trying with the kale! 🙂

  5. Marla Pollard says:

I used to make apple sauce. Just apples and cinnamon 🙂

  6. Tamara D says:

Our son is 10 1/2 months and one of the best meals I made was peppercorn squash blended with raisins and chicken with a sprinkle of cinnamon! He loved it!

  7. Steph says:

I didn’t make baby food for my son but I make it for my 8month old daughter now, I refuse to buy the jarred food for her, its so easy this time around esp with lots of fruits. meats & veggies in the house for my 2 yr old. I love knowing that its 100% safe & I know where the meat is from & how it was cooked. Her favorite recipe that I make is Chicken, sweet potatoe & apple, she loves it! It’s the one recipie that I know I don’t have to put a bib on her, she eats every bit! Her second fav is a frozen banana pop, GREAT for teething right now!

  8. Candace P says:

On Thanksgiving we mashed up a small bit of homemade Pumpkin Pie, at 7 months old there was a lot of “yummy” sounds

  9. Lisa G says:

We make all of our son’s food. His favourites are chicken curry with sweet potatoes and apples and pot roast with potatoes, carrots and mushroom.

  10. Kelly D. says:

Lamb, carrot and apple with a dash of cinnamon to help it go down! It was a hit.

  11. Kelly Dowdall says:

Ground lamb, apple and carrots mashed up with a dash of cinnamon!

  12. Katrina says:

I have been making baby food his favorite is chicken apple delight.

  13. Sarah Hunt says:

I made all my DS baby food until he started finger food. His favorite was ground chicken and sweet potato with a hint of cinnamon for flavor. Was always a big hit!

  14. Angie says:

I made my own purees – we had received the Baby Bullet as a gift which motivated me to try it. I found that I could make big batches and freeze them. She went through that stage so quickly so it wasn’t a huge burden doing it. I found the textured stage and finger food more difficult than the puree stage.

  15. Angie says:

Oops – forget to comment on the most successful recipe – I was lucky she ate anything I made – her favorite was the sweet potatoes or avocado.

  16. carla d says:

always made my own food, felt good to do so. His favourite was sweet potatoe., pot roast with veggies was another fav!

  17. Vanessa says:

I make most of my own food, my daughter’s current favourite is pears & honeydew mixed 🙂

  18. Julie says:

Went straight to making baby food when my daughter started solids but didn’t always have success with her eating it. However, my most successful recipe that never fail is pears with oat cereal.

  19. loucheryl says:

My son loved when I made soft boiled eggs and he dipped his toast in eggs. He LOVED that so much!

  20. Fiona says:

scrambled egg yook, lentils and banana, mostly mashed fruits particularly prune plums.

  21. vbhuller says:

I make my baby his food, and his favourite so far is pear! Bosc are his fave!

  22. Nav says:

My 6-month-old daughter enjoys homemade purees using our Vita-Mix! I borrowed your book from the library (Sprout Right) and used it for inspiration – she has enjoyed cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato, squash, and carrot purees as well as various combinations of these vegetables. I’m looking forward to incorporating meat, and some other veggies soon (e.g. parsnips).

  23. Carlotta says:

My son will start solid food in a week. Right now it is just mommy’s milk.

  24. Marissa says:

My son is 10.5 months and I recently made him a fish chowder using tilapia. He LOVES it. He would rather eat with his face in bowl than with a spoon because its just faster. And lentil/sweet potato mix!

  25. Zhenia says:

My son started to resent being spoon-fed sometime around 8-month mark so I started making baby finger foods for him instead of purees. His favourite by far were roasted yellow zucchini sticks. He would spend a good amount of time sucking on them and scraping the flesh of the skins, all with great concentration and enthusiasm, and once he was done the twisted remains of the skin would be thrown on the floor. I was so proud of how he was able to manage the food on his own.

  26. Anna-marie says:

My daughter is 6.5 months and i make all her food. Hers faves so far are avacado and apple sauce

  27. ali says:

What ever the family was having for dinner would be pureed for the baby to eat. everything was baby food!

  28. carol says:
