Baby Registry Tips

03/26/2017

I don’t know about you, but I think that any kind of registry is a good thing!  I love knowing that I am buying exactly what someone really wants or needs and because it is a registry, you know if that item has already been purchased, so it creates way less work for the recipient because they don’t have to make a bunch of returns. I personally registered for my first baby.  It is so wonderful when friends and family come together to celebrate a new baby and amazing for parents because, let’s face it, these little miracles are very expensive!  Mom usually takes on the task of sorting out all of the gear that one needs after baby is born.  Change pads, diaper bags, sound machines, monitors, bedding, nursing pillows, receiving blankets, strollers, car seats, toys, blankets, swaddle sacks, tiny face clothes and on and on. My favourite items on my registry were related to sleep; sleep sacks and sound machines.  A must have in our household! What so many families forget about is diapers.  In the early months, you might be changing 10-12 diapers a day.  Very quickly baby moves from newborn diapers (usually in the first few weeks) and then through the sizes.

I love the idea of adding diapers to your registry – Pampers Swaddlers are a must for newborns.  If you want to keep the big “fun” gear on your registry, consider throwing (or casually asking your BFF or husband’s BFF to organize it!) a Man Shower.  This is the best way to stock up on diapers!  There are so many super creative ideas out there for these Man Showers and they all generally have the same theme – bring Dad the gift of Diapers!  They can be co-ed, or just the guys hanging out.  Some Man Shower ideas include:

  • Diapers, Dudes & Drinks
  • Diapers for Dad
  • Diaper Changing Tool Boxes
  • Daddy Survival Kits, and more

Just look up “Man Shower” on pinterest for tons of amazing ideas; perfect for building up your diaper inventory.  From blindfolded diapering to the classic melted chocolate bar in a diaper – there are lots of ways to make this a fun event to celebrate Dad, AND a great way for mom to ensure she is well stocked up on diapers before the baby arrives.    Make sure to encourage guests to buy all sizes.  You might even consider only asking for size 1 and beyond since newborn diapers are a pretty quick stop on your babies diapering journey.  It turns out that 9 out of 10 moms wish they had included diapers on their registry and 40 per cent of moms didn’t think to include enough diapers of different sizes on their registries. Don’t make these mistakes!

Our advice to all of you expectant moms out there, is to not forget the diapers!  We want to hear from you – did you receive diapers from your registry or did you celebrate Dad with a Man Shower?  Comment on our “Man Shower” post on our facebook page for a chance to win a prize and we will pick a winner on April 3 at noon MT.  The winner will receive a giveaway valued at $300 which will include a box of Pampers diapers in the size of their choice and an Amazon Gift Card for more diapers down the road!
