Every parent wants to make their child’s birthday a truly special occasion. And every kid in the world looks forward to that special day that is entirely dedicated to them. This is the day they’re probably eagerly awaiting during the whole year, so it really needs to be fun and exciting. Planning a birthday party that includes a bunch of kids, plenty of food and the obligatory entertainment can be stressful, but luckily there are some tricks that can help you prepare an awesome party for your youngster easier.
The biggest mistake you can make is to underestimate the importance of having a plan for a kid’s birthday party. It would be best to start making plans a month in advance because this will give you enough time to go through all the details. Think carefully about how many kids will be present and take into consideration their age because 10-year-olds are not interested in the same things as 5-year-olds.
While there are many great places to have a birthday party, you really should consider organizing it at home. It’s cheaper and you won’t worry whether the venue will be available on that specific date. Another thing that is extremely important is involving your kid in the planning process. Don’t just ask them what sort of party they want, but actually include them into the organization. They can make the invitations and go to the store with you to choose the decorations (which you can slowly start getting a few weeks before the big event).
Planning the menu is probably the most important thing when organizing a party. The good thing when it comes to kids’ birthday parties is that you really don’t need to plan any fancy meals, so keep the food simple. Serving pizza or sandwiches is probably the best choice. If you’re making the food by yourself, you should avoid anything with nuts since so many kids are allergic to them.
Another thing you might want to consider is catering. More and more moms claim that they prefer ordering food instead of making it themselves because it’s cheaper and they don’t have to slave away in the kitchen. There are some really good services specialized in finger food catering which can be perfect for a kid’s birthday party because not only is the food delicious, but it’s super easy to serve.
In order to make your life easier, you can purchase all items that aren’t perishable, like plates, cups, plastic cutlery, candies and games, even two weeks in advance. Make sure you put everything together in a big bag and store it someplace so that it doesn’t get in your way. You should also consider getting plastic or paper tablecloths, and when the party is over, you can simply wrap everything up and throw it away. If you’re sending your guests off with goodie bags, fill them up at least a day before so you don’t go running around on the day of the party.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your spouse, family member or friend because you want to enjoy your kid’s birthday celebration. You shouldn’t be the parent that only appears to bring the food and drinks. In order to really be there while your little one is having a good time, make sure you have someone else help you with food preparation, so you can supervise the games or entertain the kids in the meantime. This is also your day and you should enjoy the party and savor all your efforts that went into planning it.
Another thing you need to have in mind is not to stress. Do the best you can, do it with love and stay relaxed. That way, your kid will look back to their childhood having fond memories filled with love and fun.
