Grocery Delivery for Busy Families!

As a busy mom, grocery shopping is another task on my never-ending ‘to-do’ list. Trying to fit it in between work, appointments, shuttling my kids to evening/weekends activities and trying to get to a store when the store itself is not too busy is no easy feat.  To earn back some down time even if it’s a couple hours, I decided to give grocery delivery a try and I found Voilà!

What is Voilà?

Voilà is an online grocery service available in select areas in Canada. They deliver directly from a warehouse powered by state-of-the-art-technology which tracks shelf-life in real-time. Unlike any other grocery service I’ve tried, Voilà’s unique tech ensures groceries stay fresh from the warehouse, to a temperature-controlled van and then finally carefully handled by a friendly teammate right to my doorstep. Plus, because of their precise technology the products you actually ordered online are in stock! I love when what I ordered arrives just like I had hand-picked it myself.

I made a profile at voila.ca while sitting in the comfort of my home.  No longer rushed and pressured by impulse buys – I was able to be more thoughtful and careful about my purchases! I also was able to do this task at a time that worked best for me (usually right after the kids have been dropped at school in the morning and before I start my work for the day).

There are over 20,000 products available including favourite brands like Farm Boy, Longo’s, Compliments and more. One of our family favourites is Longo’s Curato line of premium Italian imports – I was so happy to find the products when looking at what is available on Voilà! We’ve also recently gotten into the cult-like following of Farm Boy’s products, so I was happy to see them also available when placing my order.

The website is easy to navigate and has some really cool features that I found helpful. You can make lists (i.e. Weekly Essentials, Kids Birthday Party, Moms Night Hosting, Monthly Shop etc) and also add any last-minute items or edit your order right up until the night before your delivery. So convenient!

Delivered Fresh or it’s Free

I found the delivery fee to be reasonable when I took into account my time and gas usage by not making the trip myself. If you use Voilà regularly, you may be interested in the Delivery Pass. If you haven’t signed up yet, try it with no commitment and get 1 month of free deliveries!

I was able to select a 1 hour delivery time slot that was convenient to me. I was imagining how well this would fit in for those mamas who have littles on a nap schedule! When you have a little one who naps in the middle of the day – just schedule a delivery for when you’re home nap-trapped!

The driver called me when he was 10-15 mins out and was very friendly and courteous. He even let me peek in the door of the truck and showed me how food is safely stored and organized. Within the truck is a cold zone, so fridge or freezer items stay perfectly chilled and/or frozen. He even had a temperature gauge that he quickly checked my fresh chicken with to make sure that the temperature was just right!

The delivery driver also let me know that I was welcome to inspect the fresh produce to ensure I was happy with the quality of what was delivered (I was!). Convenience for busy families

Families are busier than ever and Moms are doing more than ever before – but we still want to get fresh and healthy food into our homes to feed our families. Between work, children’s activities and play dates, demands on our time to maintain our homes and help with homework etc – we need to find ways to work smarter, not harder. Using Voila for my weekly grocery shopping gave me back SO much time. More time to help my oldest with homework and more time snuggling with my youngest after school as he tells me about kindergarten.

After trying Voilà, I loved the experience I had with them, so I’ll be sticking with what works. I can’t wait to build my list of ‘regulars’ as I place more orders, helping me stay efficient with my time on my weekly shops!
