Make life-long friends, learn, and create lasting memories with Mommy Connections Cape Breton!

Meet your new BUMP BESTIES! Are you expecting and looking to learn alongside and connect with other pregnant parents during your journey to parenthood? Our Mom to Be program offers an amazing mix of information and activities to help prepare you for baby’s arrival, and have fun while you’re at it! Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, you’ll fit right in. Start building your village while you build your baby!

We’ll meet Monday evenings in the NEW Mommy Connections Cape Breton community space (at the Southend Community Centre), except for photo week. This 4-week mini program is created for pregnant parents, ideally in their second trimester (but any stage welcome)! Like our other programs, Mom to Be is designed so that you can take it again if you love it, and the topics/activities will be different the next round! The earlier you start in pregnancy, the more opportunity you have to connect, grow, and benefit from the resources you learn about!

Included in your $100(+tax) registration fee is:

  • Four classes full of expert information/activities, community and connection
  • Resources and supplies from each session’s presenter/activity, when applicable
  • A free professional picture of you and your baby bump, taken by local photographer Wendy Gouthro (Edgewood Studio) with the option to purchase your full gallery at a special Mommy Connections rate if you love your photos
  • Occasional refreshments/snacks/treats to enjoy
  • A private Facebook group so that you can get to know your fellow moms-to-be better
  • A swag bag with lots of goodies, samples, and coupons from local and national partners
  • A chance to win a size 6-18m Oyaco “Glitter & Spice” baby sleep bag (winner will be a program participant)
  • A one-time $15 discount on our popular Mom & Baby programs for you to use anytime after baby arrives

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How far along in my pregnancy should I be when I register?
A: The ideal time to do this program is when you are early in your second trimester, as you will have the opportunity to participate in subsequent programs (with new topics/activities!) to continue learning and growing, if you choose. However, we welcome anyone at any stage of pregnancy, as long as you expect to finish the series before your due date. The sooner you sign up, the more time you have to prepare and process information, and participate in services you enjoyed learning about as well! *In the event that you miss any sessions due to birth, we can credit up to 1 class to put towards a future Mom & Baby program.*

Q: Can I attend just a few classes?
A: Single sessions are not available. A huge focus of our program is community-building, which can only be created when a group is consistent from start to finish. We understand things come up and you may not be able to attend all classes, but you should plan to/be able to attend when you sign up.

Q: Can I join a program after the start date?
A: If there are any spaces remaining after a program begins, you can join late! Once we are more than 1 weeks into a mini program, please reach out first before registering. You may still be able to join, but the fee will only be prorated up to 1 classes. The cost will be adjusted for you as a sale so you can register as usual. We’ll handle the rest and get you up to speed!

Q: How many moms-to-be are in each class?
A: We aim to keep Mom to Be classes between 6-10 participants to foster a cozy, community feel.

Q: Can my partner attend with me?
A: As this is not formal “birth prep” or complete prenatal education (see Belle Vie Birth & Baby for comprehensive childbirth education options), we ask that just the pregnant person attend so you can really connect and create those connections with the others in the class. We want you to feel totally comfortable talking about anything and everything!

Q: When will I find out the schedule of topics/activities? Are the class types/activities guaranteed?
A: You will receive an official schedule before your session begins. A tentative agenda is available above, but is subject to change. We cannot guarantee that a particular topic/presenter will be a part of any given session. Class topics change from session to session for variety and are subject to local experts’ availability. We can, however, promise you a great mix of things!

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Please note, registration cancellations are subject to a $30 administration fee, if applicable. View our full cancellation policy here. A minimum of 6 participants are needed in order to run this class. In the event that we need to cancel due to low registration, you will receive a full refund. You will be given the opportunity to be placed on the waitlist for the next series.

Q: Have you made any changes due to COVID-19?
A:  Please read our new policy here.
