Expecting a New Addition in 2017?

Expecting a New Addition in 2017?

October 31, 2016

So, you’re going to be a mom. Where do you begin? You need a car seat, a crib, baby clothes, and more. While many of these items are essential to being “prepared” for baby’s arrival, taking an informative prenatal class should be high on your prenatal to-do list.

Whether you are giving birth at home, the birth center or the hospital, Mommy Connections North Edmonton & St. Albert’s comprehensive One-Day Prenatal Education Class is a great option for you. We have worked hard to create a course that will leave you feeling informed and empowered as you embark on your birth and your journey into parenthood. This course for expecting moms and their partners (or support persons) is both informative and interactive and is taught by a fabulous DONA-certified doula of 7 years and mother of two!

“I also just wanted to take this time to say I really enjoyed the class. You seemed knowledgeable, friendly and approachable which makes for a very comfortable atmosphere (thank you!). We will recommend your class to anyone looking for a wealth of knowledge in their pregnancy.”

– Nikki, mom-to-be

Our 6-hour course is held at Revive Whole Body Health in St. Albert. Every attendee has his or her own chair or couch to sit on and couples will have the opportunity to leave their seats during our hands-on demonstrations. Every couple will receive an information booklet that includes most topics covered during the course and a swag bag full of gifts and discounts from our partners.

Here is the comprehensive list of what will be covered during our course:

* Your pregnant body: anatomy and terminology

* How to get this baby out: the stages of labour

* Encouraging baby into the best possible position for birth

* Understanding stress and the effects of pain in labour (fear-tension-pain cycle)

* Comfort measures (positioning, using breath, touch, massage and relaxation techniques with interactive practice)

* Birth preferences: know your options

* Packing: what to take with you to the hospital or birth center

* Medical interventions: what are they, why do they exist, what you might like to know

When should I enroll in a prenatal class?

We recommend enrolling in your late second trimester or early third trimester, between approximately 6 and 8 months gestation.
