Mommy Connections Burlington’s Guide of Virtual Things to Do While Social Distancing

03/20/2020

At Mommy Connections Burlington, our promise is to keep you CONNECTED. Connected to your community. Connected to fellow parents. Connected to resources. And, connected to your children. That is our mission, and it is why we love doing what we do.

This has been one of the most bittersweet starts to our new programming. So much excitement and momentum went into relaunching this chapter, and I want you to know that excitement awaits you when this is behind us.

COVID-19 has thrown us all head-first into what feels like an alternate reality. We are all navigating changing roles and schedules, and experiencing new challenges. Social distancing is our current reality but we are so blessed in this day and age to have access to the technology we do, keeping us more in touch than ever before – let’s use it.

Sure, you’ve already exhausted your list of DIY crafts for the kids, and can’t stand to watch Frozen another 10 times. We see you. We hear you. We are you. We’ve rounded up a list of some virtual activities to spice things up for your little ones (and you) below – check it out!

Fitness & Movement

Studio TechniqueLocated in the heart of Burlington, Studio Technique has become ‘the’ pilates studio in the city. Check out their website to learn more about the variety of (Mom & Baby) barre, pilates and reformer classes offered. Lauren, Owner and Operator of Studio Technique, will take you through a virtual mix barre class tomorrow, March 21 @ 10am on the studio’s Instagram. Don’t miss it!

Virtual Mama Moves – join our free Facebook group run by yours truly. Our in-person Mama Moves is a fitness class designed for your postpartum body – this is our adapted virtual version. Come sweat with me during a live workout, or check back in when it works for you. Minimal equipment required, all fitness levels welcome.

Modo Yoga Burlington will be live streaming modo and flow yoga classes from their Instagram. Join them this Friday @ 10am, Saturday @ 4pm, or Sunday at 10am.

Zumbini – Created by Zumba and BabyFirst for kids aged 0-4 years, the Zumbini program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning and fun! Lauren runs parent and baby classes out of her private Coaching Studio as well as through the Burlington Student Theatre. Music

TipToe Music – TipToe Music’s “Music Together” classes build on your child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement. E-J’s excitement while teaching is second-to-none! Both Baby and Mixed Ages music classes provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should they choose to when older, all while having fun! Current, past and future families are invited to join online music making over the next few weeks via a private TipToe Music Families Facebook group. Just request access here – it’s free, and available to all families.

Blossom Musik – Based in Waterdown, Blossom Musik’s “Kindermusik” classes are designed specifically for your child’s developmental stage, featuring activities that support and nurture all areas of your child’s development. Through use of age-appropriate instruments and activities, your child’s learning will go beyond music to set them up for early succes with literacy and language development, social-emotional skills, and gross and fine motor development. Follow Blossom Musik’s Miss Amy on Instagram for some live Music & Storytime sessions. For all current Kindermusik families, online classes begin this Sunday, March 22nd. Not registered? Reach out to her at blossommusik@gmail.com for more information on how to sign up!
