Thank goodness Halloween is over…and that large box of candy is finally empty so it can stop tempting me! Halloween with an infant is definitely more of an experience for the parents. Who can resist a smiley baby dressed as a pumpkin? With Halloween here, this was the perfect week for a photographer to visit the moms and babes at Mommy Connections Edmonton West Post Natal program.
We were lucky enough to have two photographers at our session. Magda (www.magdakirkwood.com) was taking photos of moms with their dressed up babies while Kyla (www.feschukphoto.com) gave us a presentation on how to take the best photos of our little cuties. Kyla gave us some great ideas…now I just have to find time clean my house so my pictures aren’t cluttered! One great thing that Kyla offers is that in exchange for a lunch, you can meet with her to learn more about your camera. Definitely something I’m thinking about doing since the love affair with my new Canon Rebel has worn off and now I’m just sticking with the auto functions. One more thing to add to my list…
But once again, it is the bonds that are forming between moms that really stand out from this week. One of the moms sent an email to all of us explaining that she wasn’t at the session because baby had suffered a fall right before she was leaving. As traumatic as this experience was for her, she can be sure that the rest of the moms are paying attention to the developing mobility of our changing babies. The responses from other moms in the group were sensitive and empathetic…exactly what a worried mom needs.
This week is a snapshot (pun intended) of what all mom-to-mom interactions should be: fun and lighthearted, but supportive and non-judgmental when needed. What a great group of ladies I’m lucky to be getting to know at Mommy Connections!
