Basically Babies – A Great Edmonton Charity

Looking for a reason to get out of the house? Maybe just a place to meet some new friends and develop new skills? Try volunteering! Basically Babies is a registered charity serving the greater Edmonton area and we are always looking for new volunteers to help in our warehouse, from home, or out in the community.

Basically Babies works to help families in our community who are in extreme need and who have newborn babies. We provide the gift of a complete first year wardrobe for these infants in the form of a beautifully colour-coordinated basket filled with sleepers, outfits, undershirts, shoes, slippers, jackets, a snowsuit, and many other items. Each basket is lovingly prepared by our dedicated group of volunteers.

Volunteers at Basically Babies are committed to quality and excellence in all that they do and the environment is fun and welcoming.

Current Opportunities:

• Wednesdays in the Warehouse: Every Wednesday from 9:00-2:00 volunteers come to the warehouse to sort donations of baby items, process inventory, prepare layettes, and complete a wide variety of other tasks.
• Washing & Ironing from Home: Each layette is washed and ironed to make sure that the contents are clean and in nearly new condition. Come into the office once per week to drop off your completed layette and pick up a new one and volunteer from home on your own time!
• Work Nights: Once per month we host a work night from 6:00-10:00pm to accommodate some of our working volunteers. Check out our Calendar of Events at www.basicallybabies.org for upcoming dates.

If you’d like to help but can’t commit to volunteering right now, consider donating your gently used baby items. We accept clothing in sizes 0-24 months as well as small toys, stuffed animals, books, shoes, outerwear, and other small miscellaneous items.
