Review: Diono radian rXT Convertible Car Seat

I had the opportunity to try out the radian rXT Convertible car seat with my toddler recently.  I loved the look of this seat, it folds up nicely in an easy to transport form.  When I got it all unfolded (which folds down with one quick click of the seat bottom), I noticed that the seat had a lot of padding. It looked very stylish with great features, and seemed very comfortable as well.  I like that the harness straps have padding for the shoulders for added comfort and the harness clip is easy to click and un-click. With a very active and restless toddler it helps to be able to strap him in snugly and have it be very comfortable for him.  He didn’t complain about it at all which for a car seat is a huge deal.

Installing Diono car seats is made easy with helpful videos on their website. For my toddler, I found videos to install the seat Forward Facing Using a Lap Belt or Using Top Tether, and even Installing the seat on an Airplane! There are many more videos ranging from Unfolding your seat to completely installed.

When trying my son out in the seat, in spite of it being a lot more narrow and compact than our last car seat, he still has plenty of room and seems to be happy and comfortable. Having the adjustable sides to allow for a bit more wiggle room is a great feature. He really likes that he can adjust them in and out as he pleases. The car seat comes with a cup holder and my son used it whenever he got the change. It was great to hold his drinks, snacks and toys and can be used on either side of the seat. Great bonus!
