I had the privilege of providing two very thankful Moms with the opportunity to review the Push to Close Extending Metal Gate from Munchkin – it was like they had won the lottery! Both of these Moms were so pumped to try out this gate, since both of their little ones were starting to move around and it was inevitable that they would very soon have to buy one – and the decision as to which one they wanted to invest in had become really quite daunting.
Here’s one Mom’s account:
One of the biggest things we dreaded about our little girl finally finding her way and being able to crawl, was having to install baby gates. We have steps that lead from the hallway to our kitchen/living area, and down those steps, is our powder room, garage access and front door. Finding a gate that was easy to use and something that had a sleek look was extremely important, as this is a highly travelled hallway. We went with the Munchkin Push to Close Extending Metal Gate as it was visually appealing and seemed like it would fulfil our needs. The gate itself was pretty easy to install and the directions were straight forward. The gate is sturdy and the latch to open is easy to do with just one hand.
The best part about the gate is that it opens both inwards and outwards which makes maneuvering up and down the stairs with hands full a breeze. The other advantage is that when we do not need to utilize the gate it can be left open, and the gate door rests flush against the wall (in our case the stairs, but that’s what worked for us). The gate can be installed to open on the left or right side which makes it versatile for any room or staircase.
Overall we’re happy with the functionality and safety this gate offers and when the time comes to install another gate on the upper level of our home we will be purchasing another Munchkin gate.
The other Mom had very similar opinions on this gate.
The Munchkin gate was very easy to put up. The instructions were very well labelled and easy to read. The video that is available on youtube.com was an added bonus to ensure the installation was correct. We installed it above ground level to allow for our cat to get out of the room, but not high enough that our son could get underneath.
The functionality of the gate is great. It was nice to be able to adjust the gate to any opening and ensure it was a snug fit. It is easy to open with one hand when you are carrying your child. It is very secure when a child grabs, pulls or tugs on the gate and we our minds are at ease that it is secure on the wall. And the design of the gate is great and fits our décor well. The solid black and metal frame would match most decors.
The Munchkin Push to Close Extending Metal Gate retails for around $59.99 at stores near you! Or check out their website at www.munchkin.com
