Elora Labels: Start Now!

I am all about hand-me-downs! When my daughter was born, I accepted any and all girls’ clothing. After all, she’s not going to want any ‘used’ clothing when she is a teenager (or even a pre-teen). Plus as I know now, babies clothing barely gets used before they grow out of it (that is BEFORE they start eating).
So as I was going through bins of clothing from various cousins and friends, I noticed a label. It was on the tag of a shirt that appeared to have been well worn. And by worn, I mean washed numerous times. Being new to the world of ‘labels,’ I started asking around about using labels and the response I got was unanimous. Labels are a must. Buy them now. Buy them early. Use them on everything.
I hit the internet and did some research. Now the way I run my business is to support other moms with businesses in Canada. After all, I am a mom first, and a small business owner. I believe it’s important to work with other like minded mothers/companies who offer top quality products and are interested in building community here in Canada.

That’s where Elora Labels comes along.
Nancy Ariss is the founder of the Elora Label Company. She started up the company when her daughter began kindergarden and bought her first set of labels. One day, they thought they had lost her daughters’ sweater, when the bus driver handed them the sweater. The labels were a success! Nancy, who lives in Elora, started working with a graphic artist and came up with various unique designs for the labels.
And they’re not only for kids!
They are customized labels for children’s and adult’s clothing and personal items. They are UV resistant, dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe. Durable and long lasting.
My daughter is now 14 months old, and we got the cutest set of labels for her. With her help, we put them on her jackets, sweaters, shoes and some of her favourite shirts. Then we washed them in the laundry machine, the dishwasher and threw it in the microwave for ‘testing’ purposes. Success at every turn!

It’s helpful to know that as she gets older, we have the tools to make sure that she doesn’t loose her clothes, or personal things especially when she gets to school. I realize that she may deliberately ‘loose’ some items that perhaps mommy really likes, but she doesn’t so much. After all, I remember losing a few pieces of clothing that my mom thought were fabulous – and I apparently thought weren’t ‘cool’ enough. Kids will be kids. But with these labels, maybe she won’t be as lucky to loose as many things as I deliberately did!
