Events For Your Little Ducklings: October Edition
Brought to you by Anna Miller from All My Kids In A Row (www.allmykidsinarow.com) – A Parenting Blog
Finding activities for your little ducklings can sometimes be a challenge; especially in the 0-3 range. You want to expose them to different experiences, but they don’t have the developmental capabilities to really “do” much. I like to think of what I do with my girls as exposure to different stimuli and they can make the decision to take part as much as they would like to and feel safe doing. Don’t forget to do things that YOU want to do, because you are growing the bonding between you and your children and building family memories, even if they don’t remember them! Here is a list of things that your 0-3 year old could be involved in around the Calgary area.
Colossal Playdate
The Calgary Public Library is putting on Colossal Playdates all throughout the month of October and November. It is an opportunity to just PLAY with your little duckling with age appropriate toys, activities and tons of other babies and toddlers of the same age. There are various dates, depending on the location of the library, and they start this first weekend of October!
Age: Up to 3 years old (with caregiver)
Date & Time: See Website (https://events.calgarypubliclibrary.com/?id=4699l1)
Cost: FREE
Stars and Strollers
This is an ongoing program at Cineplex theatres where they open up the theatre for moms and babies to catch a show in a completely baby-friendly environment. A perfect mom-date that I did ALL the time when I just had 1 infant. Most theatres have 2 movies each week. You just need to check their updated schedules on the following link.
Age: 0+
Date & Time: See Website (https://www.cineplex.com/Theatres/StarsAndStrollers) for specific locations and times.
Cost: $2 off general admission at each theatre for adult that brings 1 child under the age of 3. If you bring a toddler as well, they will be charged the 3-13 rate of $7-10 (depending on day and theatre).
Tiger Training & ILLUMINASIA
The Calgary Zoo constantly has events going on for kids and adults of all ages. The top two right now are Tiger Training and the incredible lantern and garden festival, ILLUMINASIA. ILLUMINASIA is a night time experience highlighting the cultures of China, Japan (Oct 1-11) & India (Oct 12-25), with traditional lanterns and featuring culturally specific animals and displaying traditional entertainment.
Age: 0+
Time: Tiger Training – Everyday at 11:30am in the Tiger Amphitheatre
ILLUMINASIA – Thursday-Saturday 7:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday 6:00pm-9:00pm
Cost: Varies depending on whether you have an annual pass, coupons, and whether you buy a combo ticket for ZOOLIGHTS. See Website (http://www.illuminasiacalgaryzoo.com/event-information-details) for details on pricing.

There are corn mazes of all sizes, playgrounds galore, pig races, massive bouncing pillows that even the littlest of ducklings can enjoy, snacks, games, slides, tractor rides, animals, and a pumpkin patch of course! You could spend hours there and not get bored. Such a must for this time of year!
