WAMA – The Revolution in Underwear

Priding themselves on making the best hemp undies in the world, WAMA strives to bring more awareness to hemp as an option for clothing, especially for underwear.

Enter WAMA, the first experience in hemp underwear, making sure the quality and comfort is first and foremost.

I was lucky enough to have received a gift certificate from WAMA to experience their amazing undergarments first-hand and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

I can’t lie, I wasn’t sure about what to expect when I was first approached by WAMA to shop their brand, but I have always strived to live a low-toxic lifestyle and was sure to bring that mission of mine into our household and into the lives of my kids. So, of course I accepted. Although, I was hesitant, I was more so intrigued.

Shopping online is the new norm that I just can’t quite get accustomed to for a whole list of reasons, but navigating the WAMA website, I was hooked. I loved the sheer variety of clothing options.  From hemp underwear, to bralettes, to goodies, there are several options for men, and women.  I love that my if my husband were interested in upgrading his underwear, he can certainly do it with WAMA.

I would have loved to see a babies and kids category, so that I can shop for my girls, 7 and 9, and direct my fellow mommies there as well, but no doubt that over time, this is definitely something on the WAMA horizon.

The site was easy to navigate and shopping was made easy.  It was thoughtfully, easily and clearly laid out so that even a novice online shopper can checkout without issue.

For men, they can choose from briefs,  boxers, trunks and boxer briefs. For women, undies such as bikinis, hipsters, thongs, boy shorts and high waisted underwear are available as well as their line of hemp bralettes like the triangle and racerback.  There is also a pretty great clearance tab as well for those shoppers looking to save some $$’s. 

WAMA also offers E-gift cards for those who wish to gift someone else the wonderful opportunity to shop hemp.

I purchased 3 pieces (a black racerback bralette, a black hipster and boy shorts in green). I was so excited once I received my order and couldn’t wait to give them a try.

After unboxing my order, right away I could tell it was soft to the touch. The elastic waist band was thick and super stretchy which was good as some of the underwear I have in my drawer leaves track marks on my skin because the “elastic” everything isn’t as stretchy as I would like. Reading the label, it was clearly marked on the tag that the undies are 53% Hemp, 44% Organic Cotton and 3% Spandex.

After giving them a quick wash, it was go time!  It was a bit strange that I was so excited to get into my new undies but then again, who wouldn’t want to jump into super comfy clothes?

I decided to put on my new green pair of boy shorts as I was most excited for this one.  I was worried that under my tights, the seam would show but surprisingly (pleasantly), it was flush and not really noticeable at all. As the day went on, I almost forgot I was wearing undies as they were super light and comfy.  It was great and the best part? ZERO track marks to my groin and thighs! Score 1 for WAMA!

Over the next few days, I wore my racerback bralette and my hipster.  The hipster was great as it offered coverage, without the feeling of wearing “Grandma” panties.  It was a perfect balance between the bikinis and the boy shorts. I felt cozy and a little bit sexy all at the same time.  It was almost a Risky Business scene as I wanted to dance around the house in nothing but a shirt and my WAMA‘s.

When it came time to try the bralette, unfortunately (and as suspected),  it wasn’t a good fit. I have always been a bigger chested woman and I found that bralettes just didn’t offer enough support. This would be my only suggestion for the brand, to include more supportive bras.

Overall, I am definitely Team WAMA.  I like that they keep it simple in terms of offerings.  Their colour choices are to a minimum which makes it less overwhelming and easy to navigate. They offer a Rewards program where one can join for free and earn member perks and points while shopping. Like most sites, they also offer free shipping on orders over a certain amount.

I LOVE that they offer clothing for men and women of all shapes and sizes, covering XS to 4XL. The pricing of their products are very competitive considering the material. In comparison to other brands. WAMA pieces are between $15 – $30.

I am a woman of colour and was pleasantly impressed by the diversity represented in their models. I am also vegan and WAMA is a Certified Green America Business brand, and a PETA-approved vegan brand.

So next time, you feel the urge to splurge, do it with WAMA and invest in a good pair of underwear, because under everything, we need to be comfortable and care-free, knowing that we are putting the best on our bodies.  This company has us in mind and it even shows in their packaging. I can’t wait to add to my WAMA collection.
