Taking a moment today to reflect and look back on March 11, 2020 when a worldwide pandemic was declared! It was scary, isolating and just so very difficult at times but that year in my life also had so much joy. Being a Mom to two little ones (4M and 4 years at the time) meant that life had to go on, as I had to minimize the negative aspects of this scary time for them. James was so little, his ‘normal’ just meant everyone was at home with him ALL the time! Lilah was in junior kindergarten and had just made friends and become adjusted to school, then in a blink or an eye her world changed.

𝟝 𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕤 𝕒𝕘𝕠 𝕥𝕠𝕕𝕒𝕪….

On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a worldwide pandemic 🦠

Do you remember where you were? Do you remember what you were thinking? I sure do!

Like many new moms on mat leave, I was scared. My second baby was only 4 months old. My oldest was in junior kindergarten. I thought I was at my wits end before March 11, with a baby who wouldn’t nurse or accept a bottle, with many sleepless nights and with a 4 year old adjusting to school. Boy was I wrong!

Enter home schooling while triple feeding an infant, a 4 year old who was upset and confused about why she couldn’t see her teacher, classroom or friends anymore (except on a screen). Enter social distancing and visiting people while remaining 6 feet apart. Lining up at grocery stores just to bring everything home to disinfect and wipe it down before using. Having to put off medical procedures and visits (James’s tongue tie release was sorely needed to help his feeding so we managed to still get it a few weeks later). Important milestones/celebrations cancelled - we had to move James’s baptism till he was over 2 years old! Many family members and friends who never met our newest addition, as they weren’t in our ‘bubble’.

There was a lot that was hard, and isolating. I truly wasn’t sure how we made it through. But we did, 2019/2020 mamas especially- we proved how tough we are!

There were positives too….I have never had so many (daily) stuffie birthday parties, so many walks around the neighborhood, Zoom calls to stay connected with my Mommy Connections friends (we were in week 3 of Mom & Baby class when the world shut down).
