Mommy Connections Mississauga celebrates and recognizes all the moms in our community, the ones who are tirelessly raising the next gen of Canadians.
When COVID-19 hit, we paused our “Meet a Mom” series to focus on our families and pivoting our programs to a virtual format. Today we continue the series by chatting with Vin about life during quarantine as a new mom.
MEET A MOM: MEET VIN
Hi Vin, can you tell us how many children you have, and their ages?
My daughter is 9 months old
What is your favourite part about being a mom?
Having someone who literally loves you unconditionally and vice versa. This love is unmeasurable and endless.
What have you found to be the biggest challenge since becoming a mom?
Definitely the lack of me time and adjusting to the new “me”: going from working downtown, being independent, doing what I want when I want to being the main provider for a tiny human being, being at home most of the time caring for her.
What are you finding to be the biggest challenge about mom life during COVID-19?
The biggest challenge is not having the physical support system to help with everyday things. My hubby is an essential worker so it’s just Maya and me…
Has there been a “silver lining” to this time at home?
I had to rethink how to spend my days with Maya and still have time for me. We all know we are better for others when we feel good ourselves. So I had to make myself accountable for making the most of each day for Maya and myself.
What’s the one thing you can’t live without as a mom right now?
Leggings!!! All day everyday!
Given we’re all at home, everyone is streaming after bedtime. What’s your fav escapism show?
Tidying Up with Marie Kondo!!! I love when things are nicely arranged!
Once restrictions are lifted, what are you most excited to do?
Beside from the obvious of hugging family and friends and having dinners etc… a pedicure!
You participated in a Mommy Connections program this winter: What did you enjoy most about it?
It’s in the name! The connections I made with all the moms! I have found my mama tribe and it is so great to have a group of wonderful moms to share your experiences, vent, chat, meet, have fun with! I am sure I have made some friends for a long time.
Anything else you’d like to share with other moms in our community?
I know it’s hard to get out there sometimes because being a mom is just hard. But take the leap to attend one of the Mommy Connections programs or EarlyOn drop-ins and you will see that you are not alone and there is a mama tribe out there to support you and make this journey so much more enjoyable and fun!
