My SickKids Story

My SickKids Story

March 24, 2021

If it weren’t for the prenatal intensive care team at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, my big brother wouldn’t be in my life.

My mom was 36 weeks pregnant when she had an emergency induction. After my brother was born, four weeks premature, he underwent a 12-hour surgery at SickKids on his bowels.

It was the 80s. The technology wasn’t as advanced but miraculously, he made it through.

It forever shaped my family, my parents, and of course my brother’s life. He continued treatment at SickKids over the years, including three more surgeries on his eyes, ears, and muscle tendons before age eight.

My brother is a survivor and the pediatric care he received was second to none. I am eternally grateful that he is in our lives.

I can’t imagine a GTA-based family out there who hasn’t been touched by SickKids, whether relying on some form of care, knowing a child who has received treatment, or simply moved by a story from their community.

This is why we are joining forces with Project Halo (powered by Mom Halo) to raise $1 Million for SickKids. Through radical acts of generosity, we will create a safe haven for parents within SickKids.

Together with our friends at TipToe Music we are hosting a fun family-friendly musical event in support of SickKids.

100% of the ticket proceeds will go to The Hospital for Sick Children!

Join us on Saturday, March 27th from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for a fun virtual music party suitable for families with kids aged birth-8 years. Sing, dance and show your support for this great cause from the comfort of your home!

Tickets are PWYC with a minimum donation of $25 per family (only one ticket per household required).

A limited number of tickets are available. Visit to register and donate today.

Together we can, and will make a difference.
