The first vehicle my family and I got to try out through my exciting new partnership with the Scottsville Group was a sharp looking Crossover with exceptional beauty and performance!
Vehicle: 2013 Subaru Tribeca
Size: 7 Passenger. Includes third-row seating (50/50-split, flat-folding)
Safety: Subaru prides itself on making safe vehicles and the Tribeca is no exception. It earned a five-star rating in all crash tests and four stars for rollover resistance for 2010 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as well as a 2012 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Tribeca’s full-time AWD handles any road, in any season- a must for Canadian Moms. Gravel roads, snow, ice, puddles the size of a small lake and snow drifts were no match for the Tribeca! We powered through with no trouble at all, which leads to this vehicle’s major perk: safety. Driving with kids in the vehicle can be nerve-wracking when conditions are less than favorable, so it’s crucial to Moms to be in something that has proven to be top-notch when it comes to safety.
First Impression: I was awed by the Tribeca’s sophisticated beauty. There would be no mistaking this set of wheels for a minivan! It grabbed my attention with its tinted windows, roofline spoiler, 18 inch alloy aluminum wheels and urban class.
Kid- Ease Athough I found insalling our rear-facing and forward-facing car seats to be a challenge due to the vehicle’s LATCH system in the middle row being a bit hidden, once the car seats were installed they were secure. Our older boys found the rear seat to be a bit tight for their comfort, which is to be expected given the compact size of the vehicle.
Cargo Space: With the rear seat in place, there was still plenty of space in the cargo area for a light stroller, school backpacks and several bags of groceries, which completely impressed me!
Best Suited For: I would suggest that the Tribeca would be great for a family with 1-2 children out of car seats, due to its size and compact body style.
Drive: The Tribeca handles amazingly. It’s got tons of power when you want it and yet we felt glued to the road with every turn. There were no spinouts even in the midst of a snowfall, leaving me feeling confident driving with my kids in the back. It parks like a dream and fits into the smallest of parking stalls, which is a fabulous perk! It’s sturdy, steady and yet full of grace and style.
Overall Impression: If you’re looking for an affordable family vehicle that will stand up to kids and the never-ending gear that comes along with them, the Subaru Tribeca could very well be your match. Stop in at Scott Subaru to have a look for yourself, take it for a spin and make sure to tell them Mommy Connections sent you!
