Parents are often eager to provide the opportunity to help their children learn a second language. Parents realize the benefits of knowing more than one language in this ever increasing global world.

Some of the benefits of introducing a second language in the early years are:

When Should You Start?

Researchers say that the earlier a child starts to learn a new language the better they will absorb the information. During the early years they are quick to absorb what they hear, which increases the likelihood of fluency where children switch easily between the rules of different languages .

Ideal Teaching Method for Learning Second Languages:

Exposure and usage of the language will ultimately help little ones master a second language. Using a mixture of styles such as : singing songs,  listening to music,  playing games,  exposure to bilingual community and watching videos will help ensure retention, and help with gaining fluency in the second language. Lastly, with young minds the most important part is to keep the learning engaging and fun.

Irina’s French School offers the program “FUN FRENCH FOR KIDS”–  (toddlers, JK/ SK students). This program utilizes the Montessori materials/methodology, and FSL program. Students partake in monthly topics where they learn vocabulary, poems, and songs which help them learn to read and develop conversational French.
