A Message from South Simcoe‘s Chapter Director
Hi South Simcoe Mamas!
I’m thrilled to introduce myself as Tasha, the Program Director of Mommy Connections South Simcoe.
Mommy Connections came into my life when I was a first time mama. Before becoming a mom I enjoyed activities like hiking, yoga, and various fitness/dance classes. However, I longed to find ways to blend these passions with my new life as a mama. That’s when I found Mommy Connections, which offered me an extraordinary opportunity to learn about the abundant resources available for both me and my little one. But more than that, it provided a safe space where I connected with fellow mamas- some embarking on their first-time motherhood adventures, while others seasoned and wise. During this session we shared our know-how, advice, friendship and support.
The group I participated in was a virtual group, due to COVID. This group helped me navigate the uncertainty of that time, along with the feelings of isolation while caring for a newborn. In this space we laughed, and learned how to nurture our little ones while taking care of our wellbeing. When restrictions eased, we had the joy of meeting with the whole group of moms at a local park, as we watched the delight on our little ones’ faces, as they connected and played. This experience reminded me of the incredible power of community and its importance during motherhood.
In the present moment, I embrace the adventure of motherhood once again- I’m a new mama for the second time. Also, I am settling into a new home town in the Simcoe area. I experienced a few hurdles of being away from my previous support network. I became determined to find places to meet with other mamas, and explore hidden gems of our local area. Over this last year I met fellow lovely moms and formed some friendships, which eased the transition into a new home town and trials of mamahood with a newborn and toddler . Building these connections inspired me to want to help connect mamas, and create a space where there is a sense of belonging for all mamas.
South Simcoe Mamas, I invite you to join us on this incredible adventure! A supportive space where we come together as a village, sharing new adventures, knowledge, challenges, and wins.
