Saturday September 19th, 2015 – Infant/Child CPR & First Aid Workshop in Newmarket, ON – from 10 am to noon

Join Mommy Connections Newmarket Aurora and Emergency Response Training (ERT) for a Baby/Child CPR & First Aid training workshop!  This informative course consists of New Red Cross Standards, runs approximately 2 hours in length and finishes when participants feel confident with their CPR & First aid skills.

I took the course myself seeing as I’m a Mom of two young boys and had no clue what to do if they were choking or laying unconscious.  I must say the course definitely prepared me for both of those types of emergencies and then some.  I was both horrified at the thought but also relieved as I learned and practiced the CPR techniques, and doing it on “fake” babies made me even more determined to go home and practice on the “real thing” at home, my sons.  This is not a certification course but it definitely prepares you for the worst as a Mom or caregiver to other children in your home.  I feel much more confident and knowledgeable for taking this course myself and highly recommend that anyone take this course if you have kids in your care.  Moms, Dads, grandparents, nannies, neighbours, ANYONE and EVERYONE.  They are important skills to learn and be able to use if heaven forbid, the time ever came to use them.  Well worth the time and money!  In case you want to know more, the 2 hr workshop will touch on the following:

-baby/child CPR
-choking emergencies and common potential choking hazards for children & infants
-anaphylactic shock & epi pen usage/protocol
-severe allergies – what to look for and what to avoid
-understanding SIDS, sudden infant death syndrome
-treating falls – signs & symptoms for concussions
-fevers and febrile seizures (optional)
-accessing EMS – 911
-question/answer first aid session
-after course email and phone forum open to any participants with first aid questions

The cost is only $45+HST per person. The next class takes place on Sat. Sept 19th from 10 am-noon at Gymalaya Newmarket located at 16945 Leslie St, Unit 31. Light refreshments will be served.

Babies are welcome, but you may find it easier to concentrate if you’re able to make alternate arrangements for child care.

A Free 2nd Refresher course is included anytime within 12 months of the initial workshop. Ask for details!
