Meet the Team

Meet Our Cape Breton Director: Robyn Pritchard

Hey there Cape Breton Mamas (and mamas-to-be!) My name is Robyn and I am the director and operator of the Cape Breton chapter of Mommy Connections.

For those of you I have yet the pleasure to meet, I live in lovely East Bay, Nova Scotia with my SO and our daughter Lakelyn. She is 16 months old and just the sweetest and spiciest meatball you could ever meet! She makes me feel like the luckiest mom in the world (and the most exhausted mom in the world, the toddler years- amiright?!) every single day. When I first became a mother, my life, and my days, were so full in so many good ways I had never before known! but I quickly discovered it can also feel lonely sometimes too (despite never actually being able to be alone once you have kids!) We started participating in Mommy Connections ‘Mom and Baby’ program when my little one was just about 2 months old. I was still fairy new to the area so it was really nice to be able to sample some of the programs and activities being offered locally for moms and babies on our beautiful island. But mostly it was really nice to be  able to connect with other like minded mamas who had babies similar in age to my daughter, going through all the highs and lows beside us and were always there to cheer along or cry with us every step of the way. In the program I was able to reconnect with old friends and met so many new amazing moms from around the area. The connections I built through the program were so genuine they continued well beyond the 8 weeks and even to this day. t really does take a village y’all, and I’m so blessed to have mine!

Attending Mommy Connections once (and sometimes twice!) a week was easily a highlight of my parenting journey to date. I remember sitting in my second ‘Mom and Baby’ program, listening to the director at the time, thinking to myself “she must be the luckiest person in the world to get to do this every day as her job.”  And though once Lakelyn had been born the plan had always been to be a stay at home mom, When The previous owner had approached me about taking over Mommy Connections, I had never felt more called to anything! I wanted to make sure this great program continued in Cape Breton, having personally experienced the benefits! I am brought such delight at the thought that after having had such a wonderful experience , I am now able to take that and give it back to other moms around the island ! I am strongly committed to continuing to create a safe and fun space for mamas to be themselves , learn, share, and socialize.  Its easy to get caught up in the shuffle of new motherhood, but it is my goal to make sure every mother who walks through our doors feels supported in their parenting choices-free of judgement or bias, and a source of genuine care.
