I want to introduce you to J’Adore Dance. A local Edmonton business that offers amazing classes for the whole family. Mommy Connections West Edmonton has worked with J’Adore Dance for the past 9+ years! We are so grateful for our collaboration on demo classes for our programs, attending our events as vendors and just being down right awesome people!
Owners Jenna Brenan and Chantel Sampson answer our questions below.
Jenna Brenan: I have been married for 13 years and I am a mom of two boys ages 9 and 11. I began my teaching career with Edmonton Public Schools specializing in Elementary Education. In 2016, I became part-owner with Chantel. It has been an incredible partnership in sharing our passion for dance education and continuing to build J’Adore Dance!
We have been fortunate to teach thousands of wonderful students throughout this incredible journey and are proud and humbled to have had the privilege to touch so many lives and plant the seeds of creativity and love of dance in their hearts! We are honoured to work with an incredibly caring and knowledgeable faculty who all believe in their students and in the pursuit of excellence in the arts.
3. Tell us what you love MOST about running a business that is geared towards families?
One of the most magical parts of having our programming begin with our Blossom Babies is that we are blessed to see our dancers and our dance families grow throughout the years. We share in the joy as families welcome new members, we celebrate as our young dancers move through their milestones, we see the excitement as dancers graduate from parented programs to in parented preschool programs, begin kindergarten, move from our junior to senior recital, begin junior high, senior high and even graduate from Highschool! Now in its 15th year, some of our dancers that began in our preschool program are now youth dancers and participating in our Junior Assistant and Intern programs.
4. Tell us the best piece of “mom advice” you ever received:
Chantel: The best mom advice I ever received was to not sweat the small stuff and remember to laugh. When my twins were born my oldest was just 2. There were days when it all seemed so overwhelming. The house is a mess, you’re exhausted, the kids were all crying and you didn’t know where to start or what to do first. My husband and I would just look at each other and laugh. The laughter broke the tension and reminded us that we were blessed, the kids were healthy (as their lungs were clearly telling us), the dishes and laundry would eventually get done and we would all be just fine.
Jenna: The best mom advice: It takes a village to raise a child. My husband and I continue to rely on my friends and family for parenting advice. Some of my closest friends to this day are the friends that I met as a new mom. We continue to laugh and cry together through this journey of parenting!
