Review – CITRUS Bespoke Memento Necklace

It’s no secret that I love to shop local! Since becoming a small business owner myself, I have tried to seek out as many women & mom owned businesses as possible. I also love to shop with retailers who make the buying process simple. Things like communication and ease of shopping and purchase just make life that much more simple.

Most recently, I was put in touch with CITRUS, a local-Mom-Owned jewelry company, and was blown away by their unbelievable selection of customizable pieces. I have been eager to treat myself to an initial pendant to honour my daughter and soon-to-be-son, so just in time for Christmas, I ordered myself their Victoria Necklace, and could not be more satisfied with what was delivered.  

To begin the ordering process, I had a look at the entire CITRUS collection and was easily able to browse through a vast selection of charms, chains, bracelets, earrings, cuffs and accessories, but was most drawn to their Best Sellers collection. It was extremely difficult to choose which piece I was going to order, but the Victoria spoke to me as it features a stunning combination of both Rose Gold and Silver; conveniently the two metals I wear most often. This makes it really easily interchangeable with what colour earrings or outfit I’m wearing.

 

The chain is Sterling Silver and plated in rose gold and can be customized in either 16″, 18″ or 20” with two personalized pendants. When placing the order, there is also a conveniently located section that enables you to write to the maker with specific instructions, and you can choose your preferred font for the initials, in either upper or lowercase . I was really impressed as I didn’t specify a specific font but left it up to the maker, who afterwards wrote me and said she wasn’t satisfied with the look of the “f” in the stock font, so she was changing it to make it more beautiful.

The shipping process only took 4 days after ordering. When I opened my package I was immediately transported back to all of the reasons why I love to shop local. Inside was a beautiful, hand-written note that said “Hi Erin, I hope this necklace allows you to stay connected to your favourite people, even when you’re apart. Thanks for supporting a Canadian designer, Silver Wishes, Karen.”She so perfectly understood my exact reasoning for ordering the necklace in the first place; to always stay connected to my babies and remember the love I have for them, even when they aren’t in my arms.

 

The necklace came in a tiny airtight bag that included black anti-tarnish paper to minimize tarnish. This is where the necklace is supposed to be stored and it’s a great way to keep it safe and separate from the rest of my jewelry. I also appreciated the way the maker individually wrapped the pendants to ensure they didn’t get scratched in the mail.

I love my necklace — even more so than I did upon choosing the design from the website. I was impressed by how clear both initials are and by just how much the chain sparkles. The 16 inch length sits perfectly above my collar bone, so you can easily see the necklace regardless of what shirt I am wearing.

It’s evident just how much work goes into CITRUS‘ bespoke, handmade items, along with the service that keeps you updated throughout the process. Now that I’ve seen first hand, the level of quality in their jewelry, I am excited to order more to hand out as Christmas gifts!
