Ok, I’m going to let you in on a little secret…
You don’t need to travel far or get on an airplane for a getaway that will create lasting memories for you and your family.
Located just over an hour from the GTA, Horseshoe Valley Resort has so much to offer. Having just visited with my husband, 2 daughters (6 and 3) and our beloved puppy, we can’t wait to return again soon!
We arrived on Friday afternoon and we couldn’t wait to try out all that the property had to offer. First off, we were so happy that our double queen bed suite was located in the Inn at Horseshoe. This was so conveniently located, with every activity and restaurant just steps away from where we were staying. Our room was so nice and spacious and had a great view of the golf course too.
Our first stop was to Lake Horseshoe! My girls couldn’t resist dipping their toes into the water and our dog thoroughly enjoyed playing around on the dog friendly beach. The private docks are such a special touch and were a great place for us to relax as a family on their comfortable muskoka chairs.
After settling in and exploring the grounds, we had dinner at Eleven 01 Stone Oven Pizza which is just beside the lobby where we checked in. The salad and pizza that we ordered were so delicious and the perfect family friendly restaurant for our first night at Horseshoe Valley. All of the restaurants we ate at were really good, including Crazy Horse Sports Bar & Grill where I personally enjoyed a delicious Super Foods salad and my kids loved their kids menu pasta. The Inn Breakfast Buffet was the perfect way to start each day and we all loved the assortment of cereals and breakfast pastries.
One of the biggest highlights for us was the indoor pool! Since we visited in late Spring, it was so nice to be able to swim regardless of the weather. The shallow area was perfect for my kids and I loved the hot tub. The resort provides towels which is also a really nice touch. My kids wanted to swim multiple times a day which was so easy since it was just an elevator ride down from our room.
The slopeside activities were the perfect way to spend our first full day. My 6 year old tried rock climbing for the first time and both kids were amazed by all of the precious stones that they uncovered while gem mining . Mini golf was a really fun activity for us to do all together. My 3 year old was surprisingly really good and she enthusiastically complete the entire 18 round course. The chair lift ride was so special and the view from the top is unbeatable.
Lastly, the hiking trails located around the property provided a beautiful and serene way to immerse into nature. Coming from Toronto, we loved being able to explore the forest on the different trails. Being able to bring our dog along on this holiday was a big bonus for us as she could be part of the memories too.
I am not exaggerating when I say that my girls were asking when we could return to Horseshoe Valley Resort as we were pulling out of the parking lot. It was the perfect escape from our regular, busy, city lives and we can’t wait to come back again soon!!
