Mommy Connections Fave Five: Fall Halloween Events CBRM 2018

10/03/2018

What an amazing summer we had here in beautiful Cape Breton! I hope you all enjoyed time with your families and had a dip in the ocean. Next up – Fall!
Fall is the season of beautiful colours, new routines, crisp air, and hot soup! It is also the season of HALLOWEEN! Don’t our little ones love getting dressed up and going door to door and getting all of those treats? There are so many fun things to do here in Cape Breton and I wanted to share what our top 5 favourite events of the season are:

1. Hank’s Farm Market
581 King Grove Road, North Sydney

Explore the corn maze, pick a pumpkin, take some fun pictures, check out the market, feed the animals and coy fish, check out the playgrounds, and so much more. This is suitable for all ages and has been a family tradition of ours for years. My favourite part is visiting the market for fresh vegetables!

2. Baille Ard Trail -Haunted Halloween Hike
Terrace Street, Sydney – Next to Sherwood Park School

This family-friendly night hike celebrates the Halloween season. Screams and flashlights are highly recommended. Costumes are welcome but ensure they don’t create a tripping hazard. Please remember to dress warm, bring your flashlights and glow bracelets and have some spooky fun!
Event takes place on Saturday, October 27th

3. Fright Night – Two Rivers Wildlife Park

4581 Grand Mira North Road

Fright night has become a tradition for my older two boys! They love the thrill of this night and all the creepiness that goes with it. I would not recommend this part for younger kids BUT the do have a FAMILY DAY taking place on Sunday, October 28th. The family day is fun for ALL AGES! I highly recommend dressing up and visiting the park to enjoy some pumpkin carving, tractor rides, costume parade and music by Full Circle!

4. The Not So Spooky Hallowe’en Party -Mayflower Mall
800 Grand Lake Road, Sydney

If your kids are smaller and don’t like all of the spookiness that comes with most Halloween events, then look no further! I always like to find a few occasions that my kids can wear their costumes! They put lots of time (or the parents put lots of time) into thinking of the perfect costume so getting to wear it a few times before the big day makes it all worthwhile. I also know another Mom who is so pumped about Halloween each year, that she has various costumes that she and her kids wear to all of the events throughout the CBRM. It’s a month-long celebration!

5. The 5th Annual Great Pumpkin Trail

OPEN HEARTH PARK – SYDNEY
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2018
ENTRY DROP OFF: 12-5PM AT CONCESSION BUILDING
EVENT: 6PM-8:30PM
ADMISSION: Food Bank Donations Will be Accepted
Support our popular family event by entering carved pumpkins and/or a
display to be placed along the Trails in Open Hearth Park.

This is a FREE event for all ages! Come and walk along the trail of pumpkins. Dress your little ones up in their costumes, have some free hot chocolate and cookies, and enjoy some family time outside! My kids look forward to this event each year. Food bank donations are welcome. I also encourage you to carve your own pumpkin and drop it during the day of the event. Its fun for your little ones to search for “their” pumpkin on the trail!
