CALLING ALL BUSY, BOOKWORM-ISH MOMS:
Want all the ‘diamonds’ of a book club (reading, conversation, connection), with none of the pressure? The NEW-and-improved Mum’s the Word will be an OPEN BOOK CLUB! This means YOU pick your book(s) each month, read what you can, and join our monthly social when you can. Sessions will be very casual and group-guided, but will be co-hosted to keep conversation flowing. Your book bestie will be Jessica Grosset, a mama, major book lover, and business owner behind Hold My Page By Jessica.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- We’ll start with snacks and social time to share about your current/recent reads, if you’d recommend, and hear about other books for your smash/pass lists.
- Then true to the book club title — “mum’s the word” is an old English idiom in part meaning to “stay silent” — will be the sweet sound of silent reading. Settle in with your media of choice (book/device/headphones), get cozy, and enjoy your book/audiobook in quiet company until you’re ready to call it a night!
WHAT TO BRING:
- Bring a snack to share if you’re able, though it’s not required!
- If you are still a paper book person, feel free to bring your book(s) to loan/give away so we can spread the book love among members.
- Bring whatever you’re reading/listening to (audiobook/e-reader/paper) and maybe some earplugs for the silent reading part since it is a busy community centre and can be a little loud at times!
- Dress comfy, and if you’d like to bring your own backrest, cushion for sitting, or blanket, feel free! We have folding mats and some cushions as well.
WHO CAN ATTEND:
- Any parent of any stage welcome, whether you are a Mommy Connections program participant or not!
- However, you don’t have to be a parent to attend if this book “club” style suits your interests, so bring along your book-ish friends for the fun!
TO JOIN:
- Registration is NOT required here for this book club! It is FREE to join/attend.

- Meetings will be ~monthly or pop-up, on a weekday evening (may change each month depending on host’s schedule).
