Do you worry that your child is meeting EVERY Milestone?

Let’s talk about Milestones. How many of you are constantly worried about what your child should be doing and when they do it? I know I am – as a mother of two I worried/worry about whether or not my child was on the right track. Here’s a list of what the milestones are that child “should” be doing at certain ages.

Now I don’t know about you but my children were all over the map with their milestones. My daughter crawled at 9 months, my son still isn’t crawling at 11 months old. So what does that mean when your child doesn’t reach these milestones? Call the doctor? See a specialist? Cry?  I know it’s all based on averages and each baby is different but it sure makes you worry at times when your child isn’t reaching certain milestones.

Now I’ve started to not worry or try not to worry as much – all I know is that when I go to the doctor and I’m asked the standard questions during the well-baby visits if my children are meeting the standards then that makes me happy. My daughter wasn’t too great at gross motors skills when she was a baby but now she excels at certain gross motor movements even more than other kids that were moving before her.

As a new mom everything is NEW so it’s normal to worry about your child and want the best for them but try not to stress about everything. Enjoy them being so little and cuddly because one day they grow up and you’ll have a whole other set of things to worry about. Small people, small problems – big people, big problems, so enjoy as many precious moments as you can.
