I wanted to share this fantastic blog post from from Lyndal, our Edmonton North director and Randi a participant that enrolled twice in our programs.(once in the North post natal program and once in our West post natal program). Thank you Randi for being part of our program. This truly is the reason why the Mommy Connection program was created.
A former Mommy Connections Edmonton North Mommy and fellow blogger, Randi, recently wrote about her experiences with Mommy Connections. I’ll include a link to the complete post further down, but I want share a couple of quotes that really stuck out to me…
I was in a restaurant one day, when I was talking to another mom there. She mentioned she went to Mommy Connections. As quickly as she mentioned it, I inhaled my burrito, grabbed my baby and went home to google this group. Well, was I suprised! I could apply online, and the application was just my contact information. There were several locations in the city that had the same program, so naturally I chose the one closest to me!
How convenient! Locations in North, West, and South Edmonton, as well as Leduc and Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. And you don’t even need to leave your home to register for Mommy Connections (of course, if you’re reading this post you’re already on the website and would know that!)
I loved that every session, we started out talking about our babies and anything that had happened in the last week. I also liked that the days were structured. I didnt want a moms group at a coffee house because what if I didn’t click with the other moms there, I would have to sit in silence and just wait. The days were all the same in structure. We had 2 presenters each Monday for 8 weeks. Some of the topics included Intellidance Babies, First Aid, a lacatation consultant, Kindermusik, introducing solids, Discovery Toys, and infant massage, sleep, just to name a few.
It’s so rewarding to hear that moms are enjoying the presenters that are chosen to take part in the Mommy Connections program. I agree with Randi’s sentiments that structure is important. Anyone can start a moms group at a local coffee shop, but it’s really just a glorified playdate. Mommy Connections aims to educate and inform, and well as provide a platform for moms to make lasting connections.
I’m so pleased that Randi enjoyed her time with us at Mommy Connections, and that she plans to keep in touch with the moms she met there. I’ll leave you with a link to her post, and let you read it in it’s entirety.
