Of course its that time again. We set goals with the intention of doing so well, better then last year of course. Last year I wrote this post about mommy related New Years resolutions. After writing it I set my two goals for the year.
First my Non Mom Resolution, to run a half marathon. September 15th 2012, I ran 13.1 miles at a slow 2 hours and 35 minutes and 6 weeks pregnant. I trained all summer and did it.
My Mom resolution was to write in a journal more. Specifically write journal entries to my daughter. I didn’t exactly get to it as much as I wanted but, I did write and wrote more then I did the year before. And since becoming pregnant again, the letters have been to both M and the new baby.
I love this resolution and think everyone should do it. I love looking back already even and seeing my thoughts on her and what fun things she was up to at certain ages. You of course can write the big things that have happened, but my favourite is reading the little things you usually forget about.
Here is an entry I adore:
“The last week you’ve really taken a liking to taking care of a baby doll you have. You try put your diapers on it, feed her your food and strap her into your carseat and push her in your baby stroller. It’s really adorable and so grown up it makes me smile”
So my suggestion from one mom to another. Set your resolution goal for you and set your goal for as a mom. Then google a million other blog post about how to stick to them. lol.
May your 2013 be full of love, joy and parenting that keeps you smiling.
