Toy Review: Little People® Happy Sounds Home™

Some might describe me as crunchy or a bit of a hippie. So it’s no surprise that I’m notorious for buying relatively simple, wooden toys, and am often skeptical of more complex, plastic ones. I must admit that I have been pleasantly surprised by the Little People® Happy Sounds Home™ and welcome it into our home with open arms.

The house has three “floors” and can easily be played with by children either sitting or standing. It has 12 sing-along songs and as an added bonus, children improve their dexterity while playing “house” with their little people!

The toy also includes the Mom, Dad and baby figures as well as a table, high chair and SUV. Aside from the 12 different songs, the house also has realistic sounds like a flushing toilet, dishwasher, telephone and more! In addition, included are two fence pieces that connect with other toys, like the Little People® Fun Sounds Farm™. All pieces fit neatly inside and the front of the house closes for easy storage. Assembly is 5-10 minutes and only requires two AA batteries (hooray!).

Our 22-month-old daughter loves flushing the toilet, taking the little people for car rides, and putting baby to bed. She loves to mimic me and what I do at home, so playing house is a definite favourite of hers. Because she is still fairly young, the little people, car, table and high chair tend to disappear into various areas of the house – luckily they are easy to find. The cool thing is I know that when she is a bit older and more focused she will appreciate this toy for a whole pile of other reasons. It definitely has longevity!
