Tiaras and Bowties Children’s Gala – April 18, 2015

As someone who loves to take part and be active in my community, I am always looking for family friendly events in the community to take in and share with my family. Recently, I learnt about the Tiaras and Bowties Children’s Gala and am really excited about sharing this information with everyone! This event is all about making the kids feel like royalty and includes entertainment like glitter tattoos, a balloonist, a toy corner, a spot to get their hair and nails done, games, a photo booth and (most exciting in my opinion) an opportunity to get autographs from, sing and dance along with some real Princesses! There will also be dinner, a dance and a silent auction for the parents to peruse! What I think is so neat about this event is that the kids get to dress up, go to a fancy ball, be treated like royalty and it is all for a great cause!!

This gala is hosted by the Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth (the ASAC) and all proceeds from the event go back to this organization, which is completely not-for profit and volunteer run. The ASAC is a great support in our community as its’ focus is on helping women and their families have positive birthing experiences, which helps ensure our children get a positive start to life. They do this by helping to educate women about childbirth, by ensuring they have all the information and tools necessary to make their own decisions, and by helping to empower, support and respect women to make the best decisions for their family. The funds raised at this event helps to keep their magazine Birth Issue in print and also goes towards many other programs including lecture series, movie screenings, conferences, their resource library, trade show displays and play group.
