Hi Moms!!
If you haven’t thought about your child’s RESP investments, now is the time as the government grants will be stopped this fiscal year! The Alberta Government announced details about the plans for the Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan in the Budget release this past week. The Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan, or ACES Plan, is closing in the 2015/16 fiscal year.
What does this mean to you? It means that if you want to take advantage of the grants, all applications for eligible ACES Plan grants must be submitted to an RESP provider/ACES Plan promoter on or before July 31, 2015.
What are the grants you are applying for? The ACES Plan will contribute $500 into the Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) of any child born between January 1, 2005 and March 31, 2015 to an Alberta resident, or born within the eligible dates and subsequently adopted by an Alberta resident, as long as the child has not yet reached six years of age at the time of application. As well, grants of $100 are available to children of Alberta residents who have turned 8, 11 and 14 between January 1, 2005 and March 31, 2015, provided that all other eligibility requirements are met.
