Ergobaby Swaddler

With a newborn baby and a 19 month old baby, sleep does not come easy – especially when the 19 month old still doesn’t sleep through the night!! We received the Ergobaby Swaddler earlier this week and honestly it is by far the best swaddler we have ever tried! My husband literally called it a miracle worker and was able to easily figure out how to use it all by himself (he’s usually hard to please and requires assistance!). Our first baby (Miss K) was an escape artist and could literally get out of anything. We tried swaddler after swaddler and found none of them worked for her so we eventually just started wrapping her in a large blanket, which she would still kick out of. With our now 1 month old (Mr. J), we briefly revisited a few of the swaddlers, and very quickly moved onto a large blanket instead because it seems he inherited the same Houdini genes as Miss K. The biggest problem I have with the large blankets however is that they are such a hassle to wrap them up, especially at 3 am when they need a diaper change. This issue is closely followed by the problem that he still kicks so much that it loosens a lot and more than once I have found him with the blankets over his mouth.

Enter the Ergobaby Swaddler. This swaddler is different from any other that we have ever used before because it has a pocket for the arms to go into, which keeps them secure! These pockets let his arms comfortably wrap around his front so it’s like he’s getting a big hug all night! It has a strap that also goes between the legs which allows them to lay comfortably separated, while still secure. As an added bonus, there is an elastic pouch that goes over their legs, adding an extra layer for warmth and keeping their legs and feet covered all night! The whole structure and set up of the swaddler makes late night diaper changes much easier because the pouch allows for easy access to the diaper while keeping baby’s arms nice and snuggly wrapped! The material that is used is 100% soft, breathable cotton so it keeps Mr. J warm without him getting too sweaty (he’s a heat box!). The best part? It has honestly helped Mr. J sleep longer and obviously more comfortably!! (Note the soother that is NOT in his mouth…)

The only draw-back? They aren’t available in an 18-24 month size to help my older daughter stay asleep… 😉
