After our wedding, we knew we wanted a baby right away. While we were on our honeymoon, I even bought myself a Coach diaper bag at the outlet! We found out the middle of June last year that we were pregnant. I think it was actually Father’s Day weekend. I remember just feeling tired at the beginning, but I was lucky and didn’t have any morning sickness. I didn’t have any food cravings either. We went for our first ultrasound on my husband’s birthday, July 16. My doctor gave us a due date of Feb. 16, 2013. After the second ultrasound in August that changed to Feb. 15, 2013 (she was going by the size of the baby). My OB gave us a due date of Feb. 12, 2013 going by a calculation of dates. I never really knew when my due date was! I thought it was funny because my bridal shower was February 12, 2012. Little did I know I was having a baby a year later! When we announced that we were pregnant on Facebook, I posted a picture of a Baby Bell cheese, since my new last name is Bell. I didn’t announce it on Facebook or tell work until I was 13 weeks.
In September we went for our anatomy ultrasound and we found out we were having a boy! We were very excited. I made gender reveal cupcakes for our families and for my work. My husband is a farmer and we are big hockey fans. He started buying a bunch of camouflage and John Deere. I bought him a little jersey that said Bell and 2013 on the back. We had the name Logan picked, since I think before we were even pregnant. We just liked it. Then I remembered on our honeymoon we went to see the movie The Lucky One in the theatre. The main character in that movie is Logan, so I also thought that was kind of nice. Logan has two middle names. He is the first boy on my husband’s side (3 nieces) and in case this is our only boy, we each had a name we wanted. Logan Robert Thomas Bell. Robert, being my mom’s maiden name and the first boys in my husband’s side has Thomas as a middle name.
My baby shower was in November. I didn’t want it too close to Christmas. Our little man got spoiled. We had maternity pictures done at the beginning of January and went for a 3D Ultrasound on January 12. We were supposed to go for a 3D ultrasound in December, but then I ended up having a regular one, so I rescheduled the 3D ultrasound. I did it a little late in my pregnancy, so it was hard to get good pictures. For the nursery, I wanted to keep it neutral. We painted it light green with a teddy bear theme.
The only symptom I really suffered from was heartburn. Near the end I was getting some swelling and had one experience of a leg cramp a few days before he was born. For the majority of the pregnancy I was measuring a couple weeks ahead. I was expecting big baby!
Our little man did decide to surprise us a few weeks early. He was born on Sunday, January 27. I was still supposed to work another week! On the Friday I went for a massage and a manicure. Maybe the massage helped moved things along? At least I had pretty nails 🙂 My next blog will be Logan’s birth story. But overall, I enjoyed being pregnant!
