How is Your Child Sleeping?

07/17/2013

BabyZzzYesterday in our mom & baby group, we had Jenn Kelner from BabyZzz join us all the way from Aurora!  Here are a few things that we learned from her:

Signs that your child may not be getting the sleep they need:

1. Irritable and fussy around late afternoon and early evening.

2. Frequent night wakings.

3. Early morning wake times.

4. Short naps of 45 minutes or less.

Sleep Needs by Age:

0-2 months: 16-18 hours (3-6 naps)

2-6 months: 14-16 hours (2-3 naps)

6-12 months: 13-14 hours (2 naps)

12-24 months: 13-14 hours (1-2 naps)

2-3 years: 12-14 hours (1 nap)

3-5 years: 11-13 hours (1 nap)

My little man is a very good sleeper at night.  I usually put him down around 9:30pm and he’ll sleep right until around 7:30am.  We don’t have a nap schedule yet and when he does nap, it is usually only in his swing.  He doesn’t want to be in his crib during the day.  Jenn did tell us that they don’t sleep as well if they are moving…. whether this is the swing, stroller, car, etc.  She did also tell me that he should probably be going to bed earlier and that doesn’t mean he’ll wake up earlier.

If you are in the London area and you are looking for sleep solutions, please do not hesitate to contact Jenn!  Most of your questions can be answered over the phone, Skype or email.  She also offers free Wednesday evening webinars!  www.babyzzz.ca
