Now that our summer program has wrapped up, I wanted to write a special thank you to Combine Centre. This is where our program was held. Combine Centre is a gym like no other. Jordan, the owner of Combine Centre conducted two of our classes this program: mom & baby yoga and nutrition. Combine Centre is a very baby friendly facility. They offer prenatal yoga and pilates, as well their stroller strong program which is very affordable! Even if you attend one of their other classes, you are welcome to bring your little one in their car seat. Jordan is a new mom herself, so she can relate!
Combine Centre has partnered with Regenesys Anti-Aging MediSpa, Quattro Health & Performance and Sunningdale Medical Group to form Sunningdale Health and Wellness Centre. This facility has everything! Quattro Health & Performance did our infant massage demonstration and at our last class we had a nurse from the Sunningdale Medical Group answer our questions about baby wellness. There is also a Pediatrician and Physicians on staff accepting new patients.
For our nutrition piece, Jordan gave us a list of 10 must have items to have in your kitchen. I’m going to share this with you:
1. Quinoa – related to the leafy green family, complete protein
2. Greek Yogurt – 20g protein per serving = 1 chicken breast, probiotic for increased healthy digestion
3. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – help increase beneficial HDL cholesterol, vegetable saturated fat, source of lauric acid – immune system booster
4. Unsweetened Almond Milk – high source of Magnesium, Selenium and Vitamin E, lactose free
5. Sprouted Bread – made with little to no flour, lower glycemic index rating and is higher in fiber, typically bought frozen due to lack of preservatives
6. Blue Agave Raw Nectar & Blue Agave Inulin – nectar is one of the lowest glycemic index sweeteners, inulin is a plant based soluble fiber, 10g per tablespoon, inulin contains a prebiotic to aid in digestion and as an immune boost
7. Farro – 12g protein, 10g fiber per 1/2 cup, excellent rice alternative
8. Chia Seeds – high in fiber, 5g insoluble fiber per tablespoon, been known to stabilize your blood sugar, 3x amount of iron as spinach and 5x amount of calcium as milk (per serving)
9. Raw Brazil Nuts, Walnuts and Almonds – high source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, Vitamin D, Zinc and Selenium (respectively), satisfying protein based snack
10. Hemp Seed Protein – excellent vegetarian protein source & very high in essential fatty acids like Omega 3, can be sprinkled like a seed or used as a thickener in cooking.
We loved introducing moms to this great facility and we are now excited to take part in their fitness classes together. For more information about Combine Centre, please check out their website here: http://www.combine360london.com/
