Craft: Countdown to Halloween

Are you tired of your kid(s) constantly asking when the next holiday is? I know I sure am. My nearly 3 year old asks multiple times a day if its her birthday yet, is it time to trick or treat, when is Santa coming?
The other day I finally had enough and sat her down and talked about the order of the holidays. This just then turned all the attention to Halloween. So I decided we would try making a countdown to Halloween.
We just got out some construction paper and Halloween stickers and made the “title page” Then we cut strips of paper to make enough chain links to get us to Halloween. She loved helping figuring out which colour came next in the pattern and caught on very quickly.
She looks forward to ripping off one of the links each morning and counting how many more sleeps it is until we go trick or treating.
Once Halloween is over we may have to make one for Christmas but we will see if she forgets about asking which holiday is next for a little while.
This simple craft has allowed me to keep some sanity and has prevented her from continuously asking when it will be here. She knows if she asks I will send her to her room to count the links.
