What is self care?

03/15/2017

Who needs that crap…..you do.

“Are you ready?” My husband yells up the stairs at me, “just give me a second”…I yell from the bathroom. This is where I used to pay close attention to all the small details of how I look from doing my hair and make up perfectly before I go out. I now try not to look to hard into the mirror, as I don’t like what I see. The wrinkles are my eyes, the belly fat and my saggy breasts. Now, all my time and energy that I muster up is to pull on my yoga pants and the sweater, with that huge puke stain from Tommy last month. I take one last look in the mirror and sigh dissatisfaction of my appearance, turn out the light and yell down the stairs “coming”.

Is this your story?

We all feel like this at some point in our lives. It’s perfectly normal. It’s the overwhelming feeling of doing it all and being a people pleaser. This is okay. BUT, you have to remember to take care of yourself. It is vital to the success of your family. I can hear the voice inside your head saying, but I don’t have enough time in the day, I am doing it all now!

What if I told you did, would you believe me? Stick with me for a few moments and allow me to explain.

Women are raised to be nurturers. We spend majority of our time and energy on our spouses and our children. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when you stop taking care of yourself. We all deserve to feel comfortable in our own skin.

I am sure you have heard the saying that if momma is not happy nobody is. You have the power to stop. You are in control of you. Make the much needed time to spend on self care and do the things that you want and need to do to keep you sane and it will improve how and your energy that you will spend on your family.
