Cooking together with children allows them to explore a wide variety of foods. It helps them gain valuable skills and knowledge of nutrition and food. Children are more likely to eat the foods they choose rather than foods their parents make without them.
Try and enjoy a variety of food from each food group. Sometimes it can become a habit to eat the same meal every week. To encourage your children to try new foods, parents and other family members must model the behaviour. If you eat new food encourage your children to try a bite of it too.
Make sure when cooking food for yourself and your family that you’ll have enough energy. This is important because it helps keep you full longer and gives you the proper nutrients needed to give lots of energy.
When it comes to cooking with your children, just make sure you’re having fun and being safe!
