Review: HEXBUG® Battle Spider

I was given the opportunity to review the HEXBUG® Battle Spider. The Battle Spider is a battling robot that has a remote control and comes fueled with futuristic voice & sound effects and high-tech infrared battling capabilities. These spiders are available in a 2 pack or individually. The 2 pack is the first mechanical HEXBUG designed for Two-Person play! Battle Spiders have a 1 meter fire range and are able to fire once per second or continually until hit. When hit the Battle Spider will be stunned for one second. After 10 times of being hit the Battle Spider shuts down and a lifelike heartbeat light will rapidly flash leaving the lone champion standing!

When we received the Battle Spider my husband and daughter were very excited to try it out. It took us a while to get it working – we checked both the Spider and the Remote to ensure both had batteries and the spider would make sounds but it wouldn’t move. We ended up changing the batteries in the spider (extra batteries were included luckily) and it started working.

The remote is very easy to use – my three year old was able to use it. There is one button that makes the legs move forward and another button that turns the body left or right – whichever why the body is facing is the way the spider will walk. There is a third button that shoots the infrared light at the other spider during battles.  I received the single Battle Spider so I’m unable to comment on how the spiders battle.

My daughter enjoys having the spider walk up and down our hallway to see how far she can make it go. We were very surprised to find that she was able to control it from as far as 20 feet away! The remote has great range!

We enjoyed this toy in our house and would recommend it to others!
