Is it Spring Yet? – Mommy Blogger

03/03/2019

My name is Christine.  I am a stay at home mom with three children. Two rowdy boys age six and age four and my precious girl age two.  I am very busy with school, crafts, trying not to go crazy and keeping up with three wild tornado children.  I can say I have experienced almost everything when it comes to little ones BUT just when I think I’m an expert my children show me I KNOW NOTHING!! All I can do is take each day as it comes and share with you what I have learnt and hope it can help out another parent.  Cheers!!

This time around I’ve found it very hard to choose a topic to write about.  There are so many things on my mind these days.  The weather has been absolutely horrific and with three children who want to play outside but don’t understand that it’s so cold out that a penguin would wear a jacket.  I’m struggling to find things to keep these wildings under control.  My stress level is through the roof and it sure doesn’t help that I’ve quit smoking.  My nerves are shot!  SPRING TIME PLEASE COME!!

We have been baking cookies and bread but how many cookies does one household need? And trust me, my waistline doesn’t need any cookies at all! The kids do enjoy helping me with reading the recipes and counting out the certain ingredients to add to the bowl.  Of course licking the beaters covered in cookie dough is always a plus!

I guess this extreme cold weather has been a blessing in disguise in our organization department.  It has given me a lot of time to go through drawers and closets and pack up all the stuff we don’t use, need or have grown out of.  The kids are even excited to go through their toys and finding ones that they don’t play with or have outgrown and packing them in boxes to donate.  They like the idea of other kids playing with their toys.  It’s a happy feeling to see them excited about giving their toys and clothes to kids who need it more.  And it’s also nice to clear some space in their rooms so you’re able to walk in without breaking a limb.

I’m trying to get creative in the indoor activity department, we do Play-doh or coloring most days but that usually leads to someone eating the crayon or Play-doh.  It’s tough to find things that will keep my children busy, the two youngest are still at an age where they’re attention spans are very short just like their tempers. Usually our craft time ends up in a slapping, crying fit.  Which doesn’t help with my patience at all.  It’s frustrating with the extremely cold weather and being cooped up in the house with three very energetic children.  Unfortunately, I’m giving in to the screen time craze.  But we make it a learning time as well, choosing videos that are about numbers, colors and letters.  It’s a lot of fun sitting together repeating the words to each other and seeing that my little ones are actually engaged and enjoying themselves.  You got to do what you got to do when the weather is crappy to keep the kids happy and occupied.  Don’t feel bad if that includes a little more screen time than usual.  But there are educational options for the whole family to participate in.

I’m hoping that warmer weather is on its way.  I am not sure how much more I can take.  But my goal is to keep everyone happy and quiet so I don’t lose my cool.  Being stuck in the house has been hard on everyone.  So good luck to all you parents who are stuck in the house with hyped up children.  Spring should be here soon.  Hopefully!
