Madelyn had her pick of a variety of toys for the fall fisher price review, which she was THRILLED about! . After recently going to the screening of Thomas King of the Railway, Madelyn really wanted the Thomas & Friend TrackMaster Castle Quest Set. I was a bit surprised as she is a true girly-girl with barbies, dress up clothes and dolls, but she couldn’t wait to have the train set delivered.
It was a bit challenging for Dad & Mom to put together, but once we got it finished, it has become a favourite in the playroom. Madelyn is 5 and is a great age for this toy. The train is battery powered, so it makes it’s way around the track and our 10 month old, Carter loves to sit and watch it to round and round! I would say that although the ages are: that 4+ is probably a better age as the track does come apart pretty easily, so a heavy handed toddler might get frustrated with the tracks coming apart. Fisher Price also recommends that smaller pieces (like the crown) could be a choking hazard. We have put our crown away for the time being in our house!
Kids can use the crane to swing the missing track in place so Thomas can continue on his journey as walls collapse around him. He needs to chuff through the castle before the gate drops down, then descend into the abandoned mine and escape with the crown! As you can see from this photo – Madelyn is immersed in Thomas imaginary play!
As with any train set, you will need to figure out a place for this one as it is a double height track and probably isn’t a toy that you want to be taking out and putting away too often. If you are- keep the instructions handy! Boy or girl- this train set is a winner! If you are looking for a special Christmas gift, this one would be awesome to have all set up and ready to play with in Christmas morning.
This set can be purchased at major retailers for around $55.00.
