If you have recently had a baby, or even if you have toddlers, you might just be starting to get festive with all of the holidays. Ever since having my first child 5 years ago, I love every single holiday and try to decorate the house and do a few themed crafts with her (even when she was a baby!) She was only 3 months old during her first Valentine’s Day and we painted her hands and feet red and did some imprint crafts. This year, we have a 5 year old and 1 year old and are going to make a Love Canvas this weekend using Madelyn’s hand and Carter’s feet! The red paint and canvas cost me $3 at the dollar store.
We usually just buy the standard kids Valentine’s cards from our local drug store, but this year, I decided to see what else I could do for under $10. There are so many adorable options and many of them come with awesome printables to make things very easy. We settled on the “You Make My Heart Glow Valentine” for the 20 kids in Madelyn’s class, plus a few extras for friends that aren’t in school with her.
It was really easy – we just used a printable I found online, printed several pages on cardstock on our home computer and cut them out. She wrote her name and I hold punched them. (I would recommend hole punching first before adding their name!) We added a glowstick from the dollar store (6 for $1) and voila – DIY Valentine’s!
Here is a list of our favorite DIY Valentine’s – most with printables- to make things super easy for Mom!
You Make My Heart Soar (with Balloon Insert)
Talk Nerdy To Me (with Nerd’s Candy Insert)
I’m CEREALsly glad You’re In My Class (with mini cereal box & spoon)
Valentine – You’re My Main Squeeze (with squeezable apple sauce)
You Blow me Away Valentine (with Bubble Wand)
If you have a teacher or someone extra special you want to wish a Happy Valentine’s too – we love this ready to bake cookie dough WITH printable! We are making this for Madelyn’s teachers and Grandma on the weekend!
This year, we also made a Valentine Advent craft with a sweet task or thought each day. Madelyn loves this one! It comes with an easy printable too! We hung it with some homemade heart garland on our fireplace mantle.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
