Review: Graco Argos 65 Multi-Stage Car Seat

This multi-stage car seat now keeps your child harnessed longer, up to 65 lbs., and converts to a booster seat up to 120 lbs. for years of use. The Argos 65 also features the Simply Safe Adjust Harness System – with one hand the harness and head rest automatically adjusts. Argos converts from a harnessed booster to a high back belt-positioning booster and finally to a backless belt positioning booster. The harness booster can be used up to 65 lbs, and as your little one continues to grow, the Argos does too, transitioning into a Highback belt positioning booster which can be used from 40 to 100lbs, and finally into a Backless belt positioning booster for a comfortable fit from 40 to 120 lbs. “Our family has 3 kids now; ages 6, 2 and 7 weeks.  We are finding it hard to swap car seats between our 2 vehicles, so it was time to ensure the kids had seats in both vehicles all the time. Graco provided us with a booster and convertible seat to try out.  My 6 year old moved full time from a 5-point harness to a booster seat in January, right before our third was born. Her seat is now in our third row of our SUV and it doesn’t have the LATCH system back there, so a high back booster was our only option. The one thing I don’t like about the booster seat is that it seems crooked all the time since it isn’t latched, and actually doesn’t have the ability to latch. That is the number one best thing about the AFFIX TurboBooster that Graco provided. It seems so much safer than the average booster seat because of the latch system.  More on that here!

My two year old’s new seat is the Argos 65 Multistage Car Seat.

This seat is designed to be forward facing from 22 – 120lbs.  Keep in mind that rear facing is safest and to keep your child in that position for as long as possible.  We have always moved our kids into an intermediary car seat between the bucket seat and the forward facing seat.  The price might seem a bit high on this car seat, but keep in mind that you can keep your child harnessed up to 65lbs and then this seat converts into a booster seat using the vehicles seat belt up to 120lb!  This seat will last your child for their entire childhood and is definitely worth the money.  Since you will be keeping this car seat for so many years (and we all know that the no-eating/no drinking rules in cars with kids is pretty much impossible to stick to!) it is imperative that it is easy to clear.  The seat pad is removable and 100% polyester.  It is easy to throw in the wash and just hang dry and putting the pad back on is really easy too.  The harness straps must be spot cleaned and cannot be removed.

The seat can be reclined into 3 different positions, so as your child grows, they can sit more upright.  It also has cup holders (for those of you that allow car-drinks!) contoured armrests and storage pockets.  The head rest is also nice and soft and comfortable for sleeping little ones.  I know the seat is comfortable, but most importantly, it is safe.  The Argos 65 is steel-reinforced for strength and durability, Side Impact Tested, features EPS foam, and is LATCH-equipped.  Argos 65 also features the Simply Safe Adjust™ harness system–with one-hand, the harness and head rest automatically adjusts, which is very handy.  Installing the car seat can be done quickly and with ease and it is also very simple to un-latch and re-latch into another vehicle, which makes transfers a breeze when you need to do it.
