I love the month of May because both Mother’s Day and my birthday fall in this awesome month! I had my first Mother’s Day back in 2009. We decided to go to Texas to visit my inlaws. My daughter was 6 months old and it was her first trip to meet my husbands family and may of our friends there.
It was such a fun way to celebrate my birthday and Mother’s Day. We were so excited to go back to Texas for a visit. The flight was uneventful and we didn’t have to deal with any blowouts in the air, thanks to our awesome Pampers! She actually slept most of the way there.
We checked off an item on my bucket list (sleeping in a mall!) by staying at a hotel in the Dallas Galleria mall for the first few days, and then headed to the Hill Country of Texas to my inlaws home. It was a really nice way to spend Mother’s Day; next to the pool with ice cold drinks and tons of snacks. My kind of heaven! This was our first family Mother’s Day photo – it was such a special day to share with my own Mother In Law!
We did a lot of swimming; here is my water baby!
When we travel, we try and pack as light as we can and purchase items when we get there. Diapers, wipes, swim diapers, baby snacks, sunscreen – as much as we possibly can. It is great to use Pampers Diapers, because you can just go to your local grocery store or mega store and be confident in knowing you will easily find the right size of diapers and the brand (Pampers, always!) that you are used to.
This year, I will be celebrating Mother’s Day with my family of 5! After years of infertility and unsuccessful pregnancies, we now have 3 children, which is sometimes hard to believe. Looking back at these photos from my first Mother’s Day, I remember each one of my kids as they were born. Being a Mom is the best part of my life and of course, it’s the hardest. To all of my fellow hard working Mom’s out there – Happy Mother’s Day! You deserve to be honoured and celebrated! If you are just starting out in your journey, it is amazing and super difficult all at once. In the first 3 months of a baby’s life, the vast majority of moms are likely awake throughout the night feeding, soothing or changing DIAPERS! I now only have one more in diapers; here is a (rare!) quiet moment with all three sleeping together on our spring break getaway.
Mother’s Day can be best summed up by one of our #dreamteam members; Heather from Mommy Connections Durham; Mother’s Day is getting dressed up even though you don’t want to but THEY do. Mother’s Day is being that Superhero all day long even though at times you’ve misplaced your cape. Mother’s Day is supposed to be about you but somehow always ends up being about your child(ren) and that’s ok. It’s about being with your kids, loving on them and reminding them who’s boss. It’s about cherishing every moment you have with them now and always. I am a mom and would not have it any other way. Their smiles and cuddles say it all. Happy Mother’s Day!
