Description

Mommy Connections Cape Breton presents INFANT MASSAGE with Belle Vie Birth & Baby this spring!

Learn the magic of infant massage and nurturing touch for BETTER BONDING with your baby! Touch is the first sense to develop in utero and plays an essential role in baby’s lifelong physical and emotional development. This 3-hour infant massage workshop is a fun, unique, practical way for parents and caregivers (partners welcome/encouraged to join!) to nurture that bond. Create connections in a calm space at a slow pace; with baby and other families! You’ll also learn the heart, history, benefits, and science of infant massage. With your new skills, you can create meaningful at-home routines and better read baby’s cues.

Infant massage instruction is not meant to be therapeutic or a cure for health ailments. However, as a bonus, there are many common possible benefits and “positive side-effects” babies and caregivers experience. Below are some examples:
This workshop is led by certified infant massage instructor (CIMI) Sarah Landry, who has been practicing infant massage since 2018. Best suited for babies from ~6 weeks to ~8 months (pre-crawling), classes are baby-led and family-friendly. If your baby sleeps through the part of or even the whole workshop, is fussy, needs to feed, etc.—don’t worry! We have dolls to practice on for that reason. Partners are more than welcome to attend and learn as well at no additional charge! Siblings 4+ are also welcome to attend to learn alongside their caregivers. If an older sibling is attending, we do strongly encourage an additional partner is also there to ensure care can be provided during the session if needed. Advance notice is required for any additional family participants so we can prepare the space.

Included in your $50* (+tax) registration fee:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How old should my baby be when I register?
A: The ideal time to do this workshop program is when your baby is between 6 weeks and 8 months old (but not yet crawling). It is important that baby has had their 6-week wellness check-up from their healthcare provider. We also welcome ‘older’ babies up to ~8 months, so long as they aren’t too mobile yet for optimal instruction opportunity. If your baby is older or becoming busy, we offer a Mini Movers program for 8 to 24 month-olds.

Q: How many moms are in each class?
A: We aim to keep this workshop around 8-10 participants to foster a cozy, community feel. This may be more (up to 12) or less (as few as 6), depending on demand, but we do our best to stick to the sweet spot!

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: For workshops, we are unable to provide refunds if you can no longer attend as event is confirmed based on registrations. We may be able to provide a program credit for an upcoming class/workshop under some circumstances, at director’s discretion. View our full cancellation policy here. A minimum of 6 participants are needed in order to run this class. In the event that we need to cancel due to low registration, you will receive a full refund.

Q: Have you made any changes due to COVID-19?
A:  Please read our new policy here.
