To All The Villagers: Thank You – Mommy Blogger

Hi, I’m Lindsay, and I’m new here. New to blogging, new to Mommy Connections, and new to this crazy rollercoaster of a ride called motherhood. I’m from Regina, Saskatchewan and I share my life with my husband Jordan, little dog Rascal, and of course my mini dictator of a boss, our daughter, Hartley Dawn. Mom life can be hard, exhausting, frustrating, amazing, awe inspiring and as I’m finding out, incredibly empowering! Join me as I share my open and honest experiences and tips (that worked for us!) as I fumble my way through this motherhood journey!

We all know it takes a village to raise a child, but have you ever thought about your village or how much they mean to you? They do so much for us and for our families, and their help makes our jobs as moms a little bit (and sometimes a lot!) easier.

But between the diaper changes, nap schedules, tantrums and the rest of life, us busy moms don’t always have a chance to tell our villagers how much they are appreciated.

Well, villagers, this one’s for you.

To the brothers and sisters who hold our babies so we can take a nap, who spoil them with loud toys and trendy clothes, and love them like a parent but lend an ear like a friend, thank you.

To the grandparents who rush to our side when we need a hand, who visit often and offer free babysitting for date nights, who extend a safety net when we are out of sick days, and give our children a wealth of love and wisdom (and often chocolate!), thank you.

To the coworkers who throw us showers and invite us to visit with babe, for keeping us up to date with the latest work gossip and for keeping us in tune with the adults of the working world, thank you.

For the seasoned moms who share their experiences, offer advice and check in on us because they’ve been there before, who cheer us on and give us high fives for the small victories, thank you.

To the stranger in the grocery store who holds the door for our strollers, smiles at our babies and doesn’t judge us or complain when our little one has a tantrum in the check-out aisle, thank you.

For the best friends who are more like sisters, who are always there to talk, to vent, to hash it all out, and to drink a glass of wine when the world feels hard, thank you.

To the cousins who are instant friends for our children, who will make holidays just a little more noisy, and who will share toys, instigate hide and go seek, and get our children into all kinds of trouble, thank you.

And to our partners. Who keep us fed, encourage us to nap and to shower, who clean the house when our babies insist on being held, who offer support, love, and a hug at the end of a long day. For being here and going through all of this with us, thank you.

Thank you to all of the villagers who offer love, support and a helping hard. Being a Mom isn’t the easiest job in the world, but it’s most definitely the most rewarding. Thank you for helping us raise our children and for being part of our village.
