Yikes. What will it be like to have a new baby in the house? How will this little miracle affect our romance? Our finances? Our day-to-day lifestyle?
Boot Camp for New Dads (or Daddy Bootcamp) sessions are offered at Birth Rhythms Pregnancy and Parenting Health Centre. This unique prenatal class just for dads-to-be, the first of its kind in Western Canada, that brings “rookie” fathers-to be together with “veteran” dads and their newborns.
In bootcamp, men discuss issues like “what do I do once this bundle of joy gets home?”, “how do I juggle long hours at work with my new responsibilities at home?”, how do I handle parenting critiscism from my mother-in-law,” “can I do anything to help my wife with breast-feeding?”, and much more. The “veterans” are there to share their babies with the rookies for hands-on-training, and demonstrate how to hold, comfort, diaper, swaddle, relieve gas/colic and play with an infant. A daddy bootcamp coach keeps the three-hour program focused, humorous and informational.
Bootcamp for New Dads programs run the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at Birth Rhythms Pregnancy and Parenting Health Centre. Upcoming classes are:
Saturday, 17 August 2013
Saturday 21 September 2013
Saturday, 19 October 2013
