My name is Kara Broks and I am a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of the Speech Language Network. The Speech Language Network is a private provider of speech language pathology services to children and adults based in Saskatoon. Our goal is to work closely with clients and families on their communication goals and to help educate the public on the basics of communication. Every month, we will be providing the Mommy Connection Group with informative information about speech-language development along with some fun activities to try at home with your young ones to foster speech-language growth. Our age group will include birth –five years. If any of the following describe your child, he or she may be at risk of a communication disorder.

• Low birth weight
• Pre-maturity (less than 37 weeks)
• Anoxia (depletion of oxygen) at birth
• Family history of speech, language, and/or learning problems
• Drug/alcohol use during pregnancy
• A history of repeated and/or chronic ear infections
• The child speaks loudly or often asks people to repeat
